Shot choices

Paranormal Activity - The Beginning
Location: set in the Knights house
Costumes: detective wears a blazer (looking semi smart)
Props: the computers and other equipment set up on the desk

Shot 1
Mid shot seen through a hand held camera by the detective
I have chosen this shot as it will help to reinforce the style of the shaky hand held camera which is seen though out the other films. It will allow the audience to be reminded of why the detective is there and what his mission is.

Shot 2
Close up of the word supernatural
I chose to have a close up of the word to reinforce to the audience what is meant to be going on within the house. This shot would be seen with the framing of a CCTV camera (e.g time and date bottom right hand corner and the record sign in the top left corner) To try to portray the feeling that someone is watching the detective in the house .

Shot 3
Mid shot of the mouse highlighted by the detectives torch
This would help to reinforce the idea of how empty the house is, and the next bit of dialogue connects to this shot as he speaks to the mouse showing that he thinks this is the only thing that will happen in the house though out the night.

Shot 4
Over the shoulder shot of the detective sitting in his chair observing the house through his screen
This helps to show the audience that the night is sped up like in the paranormal sequels to move the night forward when there is no paranormal activity happening within the house (the night is sped froward to 10 o'clock). Keeping the style of the cameras being used to record the events of the night.

Shot 5
Mid shot from behind as the detective is walking up the stairs
I've chosen a mid shot as it gives shows the detective moving from one cameras line of view in to the darkness of the upper floor of the house.

Shot 6
Mid shot of the writing on the wall shown up by the detectives torch
This is the next sign that something is in the house with the detective, the writing on the wall reads 'You're not welcome here' written in a red liquid.

Shot 7
Close up of the detectives hand on the door handle little light in the room
As the detective reaches the room containing the fire the only light is from the fire and the camera focuses on the detectives hand on the door handle trying to escape his fate.

Shot 8
Mid shot of the detective banging on the door, only the light of the fire
The mid shot shows how desperate the detective is to escape, the light increases a little as the fire increases but there is a darkness of the smoke hovering around the camera making the vision a bit unclear. The threat in the house is still unclear as to whether it is paranormal or not.

Shot 9
Close up of the video camera on the floor looking though at the dead detective
In this scene the detectives eyes are open looking straight through in to the heart of the camera. Setting up the main style technique though out the whole films. This is how the haunting of the paranormal activities will be moved on by the tape being replayed and the ghost of the detective tries to seek revenge on the person and their family who killed him.
